Stewart E. "Jay" Rives Jr.

1971 - 2007

Chandlerville, IL - Stewart E. "Jay" Rives, Jr., 35, of Chandlerville, passed away at 12:55 pm Sun. July 1, 2007 in Jacksonville, IL. He was born Nov. 1, 1971 in Carrollton, IL the son of Stewart E. And Virginia "Jenny" Griffith Rives, Sr. He married Melissa L. Rynders March 6, 1993 in Virginia, IL and she survives.

He was a member of the New Beginnings Church in Ashland, IL; a member of the A-C Central School Board; a union steward at his work; and avid golfer, hunter and fisherman when he had the time. He loved attending his daughters sports and school activities. He was very active in his community and had formerly coached several sports teams. Jay worked for the Nestle Company in Jacksonville, IL He was dedicated to his family, his church and served his Lord.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by three daughters, Jeni, Lakyn and Emilee all at home; his father, Stewart Rives Sr. of Morton, IL; and his mother Jenny and step-father, Junior Wells of Virginia, IL. Also surviving are one brother, Todd Forrester of Virginia, IL; three sisters, Heather (husband: Chris) Dirks of Chandlerville, Amber Rives and Crystal Rives both of Florida, one step-sister, Mandy (husband: Matt) Kern of Auburn, IL and one step-brother, Lance Wells of Mint Hill, NC. Fifteen nieces and nephews also survive.

Services will be held at 11:00 am Friday July 6, 2007 at the Lintner-Hurley Funeral Home in Chandlerville conducted by Harry Beauchump. Burial will be in the Chandlerville Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4:00 until 8:00 pm Thurs. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to an educational fund for his daughters.
