Chandlerville, IL -
Cecil Eugene Stone, 89, of Chandlerville passed
away at 7:15 pm Thurs., Dec. 18, 2008 at the
Farmington Country Manor Nursing Home in
Farmington, IL. He was born July 19, 1919 in
Mason County, IL the son of Chaucny and Nina
Brent Stone. He married Marilyn Dick on May the
17, 1943 in
Havana and she survives.
Cecil farmed in his early life and later
worked on the dredge boat and also helped lay
natural gas lines in rural areas. He was manager
of Chandlerville Grain for 17 years and served
two terms on the Chandlerville town board. He
was a member and served as Secretary/Treasure of
IL Association of Duck and Goose Hunters. He was
a master gardener and took pleasure in sharing
the harvest.
He is survived by three sisters, Nela
Sielschott and Irma Davis, both of Havana and
Jessie Stone of ElCerito, CA. Also surviving are
fous sons, Terry (Carol) Stone of
San Carlos, CA, Scott (Vickie) Stone of
Canton, IL, Rich (Verna) Stone of
Chandlerville, Steve (Cathy) Stone of Virdin,
IL; two daughters, Arlene (Jim) Morgan of
Canton, IL and Cookie Coughlin of Chandlerville,
along with eleven grandchildren and eight great
grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one
son, Cecil Eugene Stone, Jr, three brothers,
John, Richard, and
Frank Stone and three sisters, Mabel
Jensen, Verla Busch, and Mildred Adams.
Services will be held at 11:00 am Tues., Dec.
23, 2008 at the Lintner-Hurley
Funeral Home in Chandlerville conducted
by Rev. Jim Waterman. Visitation will be held
from 4:00 until 7:00 pm at the
funeral home on Monday. Burial will be in
the Chandlerville Cemetery. Memorial
contributions are suggested to the Chandlerville
