Maudie Sue Firkins
1927 - 2011

Maudie Sue Firkins, 84, of Havana,
passed away at Riverview Estates in Havana at 12:29 a.m. on Tuesday, September
13, 2011. She was born February 10, 1927 in Carlsbad, NM to William and Ola
(Daniel) Carpenter. She married Richard Firkins on November 28, 1970 in Chicago.
He preceded her in death in 1999.
Mrs. Firkins is survived by one
son and one daughter, three granddaughters, Heather Wilkey-Friend, Wendy Smith
and Becky Wilkey, eight great grandchildren, Peyton, Hadlie and Caiden Friend,
Jakob Smith, Adam and McKenzie Scohy, Chase and Eli Hughes. She was preceded in
death by her parents, three brother and five sisters.
Mrs. Firkins went to college to
become a bookkeeper. She lived in Chicago, working as a bookkeeper for
construction companies in the area before moving to Havana. When she moved to
Havana, she worked as a bookkeeper for Wolter’s Drug Store and Karl’s Ace
Hardware. She was a member of the
Central Christian Church where she was involved with the Ladies Auxillary. She
was a member of the Havana Women’s Club and was a charter member and officer of
Havana Women in Networking.
Graveside services will be held at
Laurel Hill Cemetery in Havana on Friday, September 16, 2011 at 11:00 a.m.
