Sue Ellen Stropes 1950 - 2006 Sue Ellen Stropes, 55 of Mason City died at her home at 1:16 p.m. on Saturday, September 9, 2006. She was born in Pekin, IL on December 21, 1950 to Harris E. and Delores May (Cohenour) Goldsby. She married Harvey Leroy Stropes on November 7, 1978 in Pekin. He preceded her in death. Mrs. Stropes is survived by three daughters: Twyla (Mario) Gomez of California; Rebecca (Dean) Covey of Mason City; Patricia Gibson of South Pekin and six sons: James Gibson of Pekin; Stephen Gibson of South Pekin; Tony Stropes of Middletown, IL; Jerry (Kristen) Stropes of Manito; Allen Stropes of Mason City; Harvey Leroy Stropes Jr. of California, three step children and twenty-seven grandchildren. She is also survived by one brother: Edward (Sybil) Goldsby of Pekin,IL and two sisters: Diane (Melvin) Bollinger of Pekin and Tammy (Randy) Johnson of East Peoria. She was preceded in death by her parents, step-father, husband one daughter and one sister. Mrs. Stropes was a self employed carpenter. No funeral services have been planned at this time but cremation rites have been accorded and she will be buried at Camp Butler National Cemetery in Springfield with her husband at a later date.
