Thomas Nichols

(1918 - 2010)

Thomas Wayne Nichols, 92, Tallula, passed away on Wednesday, September 1, 2010 at Memorial Medical Center. He was born on July 2, 1918 in Cleveland, OH to Fred and Grace Robinson Nichols. He married Helen Masten in Tallula on June 7, 1942.

 

He is survived by his wife, Helen of Tallula; sons, Richard Wayne (Mary) Nichols of Springfield, and Terry Alan (Debbie) Nichols of Tallula; brother, Glenn (Jodee) Nichols of Grand Terrace, CA; five grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren.

 

A daughter, Marilyn Showstead; a brother, Chester Nichols; a sister, Ruby Smith; and a grandson, Scott Nichols, preceded him in death.

 

Mr. Nichols was a farmer, and also was the owner and operator of Nichol’s Fertilizer Company for 37 years. He was a member of Seventh Day Adventist Church in Springfield. He attended Rock Creek Advancers group. He had been a member of Menard County Deputies Association and USDA ASCS County Committee. He was also a former 4-H Club leader.

 

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, September 7, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at Rock Creek Presbyterian Church. Rev. David Daniel will be officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral services. Burial will be in Rock Creek Cemetery in Tallula.
