
Howard W. Thompson

Howard W. Thompson, 77, of Mason City, IL passed away at 5:35 am Sat. Aug. 5, 2006 at Abraham Lincoln Hospital in Lincoln, IL. He was born March 9, 1929 in Mason County to Marvin and Hattie Smith Thompson. He married Wilma Dodson Aug. 17, 1952 in Mason City and she survives.
Mr. Thompson was a member of the Mason City United Methodist Church, an avid motorcycle rider and also worked for Overturf Yamaha Motorcycle Shop for several years; he was a member of several western square dance clubs, dancing for 33 years, and a member of the Mason City American Legion Post and a Marine Veteran of the Korean War. He retired from Caterpillar, Inc in 1985 as a foreman after 40 years of service. He also worked for Lawrence Brownfield in his Gun Shop.
He is survived by one son, Steve (Pam) Thompson of Mason City; two daughters, Lori (Bill) Lemme and Lisa (Kenny) Rabbe both of Mason City. Six grandson, Chad (April) Thompson; Ryan & Seth Lemme; Devan, Derrick and Drew Rabbe and two great granddaughters Jesse and Jenah Thompson; one brother, Floyd (Sandy) Thompson of Mason City, and two sisters, Laverne O’Brien of East Peoria and Mary (Bob) List of Mason City. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and three sisters.
Services will be held at 11:00 am on Tues. Aug. 8, 2006 at the Hurley Funeral Home in Mason City conducted by Rev. Stephen King. Burial will be in the Mason City Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6 until 8 pm Monday at the Hurley Funeral Home in Mason City. Memorial contributions may be made to the Mason City Area Nursing Home.
