Velma L. Hopper

1945-2010

Velma L. Hopper, 65, of Petersburg, passed away on Friday, November 26, 2010 at 11:15 pm at her residence. She was born on January 9, 1945 in Virden, IL to Ernest and Sylvia Nelson Dawson. She married Harold Schafer and later married Samuel Hopper.  Both husbands preceded her in death.

She is survived by three sons, Harold (Christina) Schafer of Petersburg, Daniel (Vanessa) Schafer of Petersburg and Dennis (Tina Evans) Schafer of Tallula, seventeen grandchildren and one great grandchild.  A brother, Roy Dawson of Laverne, CA and five sisters,Ernestine Swearingen of Nilwood; Carlene Medlock of Rolla, MO; Ollie Bartnick of Springfield; Judi Grieme of Zephyr Hills,FL; and Sue Dawson of Hume, IL also survive.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 30, 2010 from 10:00 a.m. to 12 noon at the Hurley Funeral Home in Petersburg. Cremation rites have been accorded.
