Velma L. Gaines 1919 - 2007 Havana, IL - Velma L. Gaines, 88, of Havana passed away at 11:52 am Thursday, Sept. 13, 2007 at the Havana Healthcare Center. She was born Aug. 13, 1919 in Bernidotte, IL the daughter of Robert and Addie May Ryan Green. She married Andrew Alford Hawk and later James Gaines. Both preceded her in death. Mrs. Gaines was a member of the Southern Baptist Church in Havana. She is survived by one daughter, Lois Ann (Joe) Hardy of Havana, three granddaughters, eight great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren and one sister, Maurine Rowe of Havana. She was preceded in death by two daughters, Carolyn Kay Hawk and Hazel Gilmore; one step-son, Marvin Gaines; one sister and eight brothers. Services will be held at 10:00 am Monday, Sept. 17 at the Hurley Funeral Home in Havana conducted by Rev. Duane Turley. Entombment will be in the Laurel Hill Mausoleum at Havana. Visitation will be held from 5:00 until 7:00 pm Sunday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Alzheimers Association. |
