Virginia Mae (Dilts) Chambers, 83, of Havana, died at Havana Health Care at 4:50 a.m. on Thursday, November 01, 2007. She lived most of her life in Cuba and Canton, IL before moving to Havana.
She was born April 16, 1924 in Fiatt, Fulton Co., IL to Charles Emory and Nora Margaret Parr Dilts.
She is survived by three step-daughters: Tonia Chambers Boothe (companion – John E. Nimmons). Of Havana, IL; Debra (Reginald) Pokorny, Petersburg, IL; and Velvet (Aaron) Noel, Osage Beach, MO; four step-grandchildren: Sarah Boothe, Peoria, IL; Jason Allen Boothe, Mew Orleans, LA; Destiny (John) Messman, Cambridge, IL; Amber (Craig) Harmon, Raymond, IL. She also leaves numerous nieces and nephews, whom she held dear.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Allen Chambers, Feb. 12, 1999; they were married May 15, 1982 in Havana, IL. She was preceded by her 2nd husband, Elmer Pete Cox, of Cuba, IL, in Nov. of 1965. She also was preceded by her parents; and her sisters: Violet Putman, Margaret Irons, and Pauline Clanin; and her brother; Charles Emory Dilts, Jr.
She worked in Canton, IL at several diners for years. She loved collecting elephants, playing the dulcimer, and her cats.
Cremation rites will be accorded and burial will be at Fiatt (Baughman) Cemetery, Fulton Co., IL at a later date.
