Lorretta Virginia Matthews

1926 - 2011

Lorretta Virginia Matthews, 85, of Macomb, passed away June 1, 2011 at Kleins Care Center in Burlington, IA at 11:45 p.m.

She spend the last 3 ½ years at Grand Prairie Supportive Living and then moved to Kleins Care Center to be closer to family. While at Grand Prairie and Kleins, she was cared for by a wonderful staff and very caring Hospice volunteers.

She was born February 25, 1926 in Detroit, MI to Roy and Mary (Jones) Rogers. She married John Matthews in Missouri on May 8, 1943.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John, two daughters, Jean See and Connie Boggs, grandson, Chad Marr, two sisters and four brothers.

Mrs. Matthews is survived by two daughters, Mary Marr of Chandlerville and Kathleen (Jerry) McCormick of Burlington, IA, eleven grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren and six great-great grandchildren.

Mrs. Matthews enjoyed gardening, cooking, sewing and spending time with her family. She was a great wife, mom, grandmother and sister. She will be missed by all.

Visitation will be held at the Hurley Funeral Home in Havana from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. on Monday, June 6, 2011. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 7, 2011. Burial will follow the services at Laurel Hill Cemetery in Havana.
