Virginia McConnell

Virginia B. McConnell, 96, of Petersburg, died on Monday,
July 23, 2007, at 11:40 pm at
Menard Medical Center in Petersburg. She was born on May 5, 1911 in Petersburg
to John Alexander and Effie Lewis Beard Bradley. She married Robert L. McConnell
on May 7, 1985 in Petersburg. He preceded her in death.
She is survived by a step son, Robert (Lelani) Patrick McConnell of Silver Springs, MD; a step daughter Sally McConnell Coleman of North Carolina: survived by several nieces and nephews including Ellen Virginia (Beard) Menditto of Los Angeles, Ca., Shirley (Dr. John) Davidson of Springfield, also survived by a good number of great and great great nieces and nephews and cousins.
Mrs. McConnell is preceded in death by her husband, and seven half brothers and sisters.
She was a lifetime member of the First Christian Church D.O.C. of Petersburg. Virginia graduated from Mac Murray College in Jacksonville, Il. and taught as a music teacher, from which she has retired. She taught at Bluffs, Pleasant Plains, Anna, and Arlington Heights schools. After retiring she had returned to Petersburg where she taught private piano and organ lessons, as well as played as the organist for many years at her church.
Private family graveside services have been held, and a memorial service as part of the regular church services at the Petersburg First Christian Church, D.O.C. will be announced at a later date.
