Vontros "Pete" Elmore

Vontros “Pete” Elmore, 86, of Mason City died at the Mason City Area Nursing Home at 8:20 p.m. Sunday, January 22, 2006. He was born July 3, 1919 in Mason City, Illinois, the son of Pete and Letha (Hadley) Elmore. He married Mary Jane Saultz August 3, 1952 in Glasford, Illinois, she survives.
Mr. Elmore is survived by his wife, Mary Jane of Mason City, one daughter: Sharon (Ron) Grim of Mason, Michigan, one son: Mike (Carol) Elmore of Mason City, Illinois, six grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Mr. Elmore was a member and Deacon of the Christian Church in Mason City, a member of Jackson-Keen Post #496 and a Cub Scout Leader for many years. He served in the Army as a medic during WWII in the European Theatre. He worked for Meyers Industry in the Parts and Shipping department in Lincoln, Illinois for 20 years.
Funeral services will be held at the Christian Church in Mason City at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday January 25, 2006. Visitation will be Tuesday from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Hurley Funeral Home. Burial will be at Mason City Cemetery. The Rev. Bob Paddock and Rev. James Sprinkle will officiate.
Memorials may be made to Christian Church Building Fund or Mason City Area Nursing Home.
