Walter N. Miller
1919 - 2007

Walter N. “Sleepy” Miller, 88, of
Petersburg, died Wednesday, May 2, 2007 at 4:00 am at Sunny Acres Home in
Petersburg. He was born on January 30, 1919 in Menard County to Walter and
Myrtle Norris Miller. He married Anna Mae Owens Batterton in 1959. She died in
1972. He later married Daisy W. Wells Minor on June 20, 1981 in Petersburg.
He is survived by his wife, Daisy of
Petersburg; four step daughters, June Simmons of Petersburg, Lorene Wallen of
Rochester, Barb Rebbe of Ashland, Jacque Boehm of Petersburg; two step sons,
Ron Minor of Petersburg, and Dan Minor of Petersburg; three brothers, Willard
Miller of Petersburg, Art Miller of Naperville, Kenneth Miller of Mesa, AZ;
two sisters, June Wiggins of Ocala, FL, and Beulah Brandmeyer of Springfield;
many grandchildren; many great grandchildren; and two great great
grandchildren.
Mr. Miller was preceded in death by two
brothers, two sisters, two-step sons, one stepdaughter, and three step
grandsons.
Mr. Miller retired in 1981 after over 20
years as a crew leader for IDOT. He was a lifetime member of the VFW and the
American Legion of Petersburg. He was also a member of the Illinois Trap
shooters Association and American Trap shooters Associtation.
Mr. Miller was a veteran of the US Army
serving in WWII.
Funeral services will be held on Monday,
May 7th , 2006 at 10:30 am at the Hurley Funeral Home. Visitation
will be held on Sunday, May 6th, 2007 from 5:00 pm till 7:00 pm at
the Hurley Funeral Home in Petersburg. Burial will be in Camp Butler National
Cemetery in Springfield. Memorial contributions can be made to the Menard
County Rescue Squad.
