Walter I. Lynn Sr.

(1922 - 2006)

Walter I. Lynn, Sr., 83 of Mason City, died 11:52 am_at_Fairview, Illinois.  Born August 5, 1922 to Addison Clair Lynn and Gladys Riggins in Salt Creek Township, Mason County, Illinois, he married Ruth Wallace December 26, 1943.  He was preceded in death by his wife, 4 brothers, and twin grandsons.

Also surviving are two sons, Walter Jr., of Springfield, Thomas of Mason City, 4 grandchildren, Abby and Christopher Lynn of Springfield, Styles and Shelby Lynn of Mason City, 1 great grandson, Tyson Opel.  In addition, he was survived by 3 brothers and 3 sisters—Robert (Betty)  Lynn, Kilbourne, Kenneth (Edith) Lynn, Springfield, and James (Mary) Lynn, Easton, Mary Lou Fehrenbacher, Champaign, Anna Mae Held of Metamora, IL and Linda (Brooks) McDaniel of Peoria.

Walter was retired from grain and livestock farming in Salt Creek Township Mason County.  He was active in the Mason County Farm Bureau, a National director for the Izaak Walton League of American, director of the Community Bank of Easton, and contributing member to the Shamrock Executive Link Board of Ranching for Profit.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, February 6, 2006 at 7:00 p.m. at the Hurley Funeral Home in Mason City. Visitation will precede the service from 4 to 7. Private graveside services will be held on Tuesday at Hiawatha Cemetery near Mason City.
