Willard M. "Punk" Towery 67, of 610 N. Plum St. Havana, IL died on February 10, 2005 at 3:00 a.m. at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria. He was born on May 20, 1937 in Havana, IL. to William Towery and Doris Painter and married Vivian Bridges on November 22, 1956 in Havana, IL., she still survives.
He has four daughters- Vicky Reynolds of Havana, IL., Cathy Towery of Havana, IL., Cristina Guilliams of Havana, IL., and Autumn Murray of Atlanta, GA.. Four sons- Steve Towery of Havana, IL., Robert Towery of Havana, IL., Tony Towery of Havana IL., and Wendell Towery of Havana IL.. Also surviving are 10 grandchildren, one great-granddaughter and 4 sisters- Jeanette Riner of Havana IL., Luanita Kruse of LeRoy, IL., Doretta of GA., and Joann Shores of Havana, IL.. He was preceded in death by one sister- Juanita Ferguson.
He was an avid bowler who bowled in leagues, an avid Cubs fan. Raised in Victory Hall- Normal, IL.. He was active in sports and a member of the National Honor Society in High School and was recruited to play Major League Baseball.
He worked as a Lathe Operator and retired from CAT in 1996 after 42 years and coached Little league and Pony league for many years.
Services were held on Sunday, February 13, 2005 at 4:00 p.m. with a visitation from 2-4 p.m. on Sunday February 13, 2005 all at the Hurley Funeral Home in Havana.
