William Dawson, Sr. (1936 - 2009)
William Samuel Dawson, Sr., 73, of Petersburg, passed away on Thursday, November 26, 2009 at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield. He was born May 20, 1936 in Whitehorn, MO to Paul and Hazel Duffield Dawson. He married Helen Duncheon on July 10, 1959. He is survived by four children, Cathy (Wendell) Garner of Chandlerville, William Dawson Jr. of Oakford, David Dawson of Beloit, WI, and Theresa (Ken) Callahan of Bloomington; one sister, Bess (Gerald) Hannel of Ashland; two brothers, Louie (Georgia) Dawson of Petersburg, and Joe (Cheryl) Dawson of Athens; eleven grandchildren; and five great grandchildren. His wife and two brothers preceded him in death. Mr. Dawson had worked at Fiat Allis and as a truck driver. He was a veteran of the US Air Force, serving in Korea. A graveside service will be held on Monday, November 30, 2009 at 2:00 pm at Oakford Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Menard Convalescent Center.
