William E. Mikko

(1917 - 2006)

Wiliam Mikko, 88, of Petersburg, IL , formerly of Cuba, Mo, died on February 28, 2006 at the Memorial Medical Center in Springfield, IL. He was born on October 11, 1917 in Calumet, MI to Uno and Amanda Simpanen Mikko. He married Helen Arms in 1945. She preceded him in death. He later married Mille Flake in 1983, she also preceded him death. He later married Louise Jones in 2000. She also preceded him in death.

He is survived by three sons, William (Margaret) Mikko of House Springs, MO, Donald (Claire) Mikko of Tallahassee, Fl, and James (Kim) Mikko of House Springs, MO; a daughter, Helene (Greg) Atkinson of Athens, IL; ten grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three wives, an infant daughter, and one sister.

Mr. Mikko worked at McDonnell Douglas in St. Louis in the Mock Up Department making models of airplanes for 12 yrs. He also worked at the Museum of Transportation in St. Louis County, restoring train cars. He also worked in his shop as a cabinet maker and carpenter.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 4, 2006 at 10 am at the Petersburg United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery in Kirkwood, Missouri.
