Beulah Maxine Hollis

Beulah M. Hollis, 94, of Petersburg went to her heavenly home on March 3, 2021. She was born on July 1, 1926. Beulah, or “Blondie” as she was known to many, married Wayne “Buck” Hollis on September 5, 1948, and farmed. They had David (Patti Conway) Hollis of Blue Springs, Missouri, and Nancy (Jim) Brown of Springfield, Illinois. She enjoyed telling everyone about her six grandchildren, Mike, Mitch and Dan Hollis and Seth, Adam (Maggie) and Zach (Shelley) Brown. And then three great-grandchildren were added, Emma, Ava, Rocky Brown, along with several nieces and nephews. After high school graduation she worked at the Sangamon Ordinance Plant in Illiopolis making ammunition during WWII, thus acquiring the nickname “Bombshell Beulah”. She left us with her wisdom and wit. She enjoyed working in her flowers and playing cards. She also worked at Production Credit Association and the Menard County Courthouse. She was a member of New Hope Baptist Church. Beulah was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne (Buck); parents Ed and Leona Wilken; sisters Esther, Donna, and Lois; and a brother, Raymond. Following cremation there will be a public graveside service officiated by Fr. Seth Brown at Oakland Cemetery in Petersburg on Tuesday, March 9, 2021, at 10 am.
