Dorothy Sexton

Dorothy Sexton, 90, of Mason City, passed away on Friday, November 26, 2021 at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield. She was born September 14, 1931 in Greenview, IL to Deidrich & Anna (Weidhuner) Koehne. She married James Sexton on November 21, 1951 in Havana, IL. He preceded her in death on November 28, 2010. She is survived by two children: Nancy (Larry) Wilcoxson of Texas and Tom (Janice) Sexton of Mason City. Also surviving are two grandchildren; Rachel Sexton of Lincoln and Jacob Sexton of Tennessee, three step grandchildren; Scott, Jon and Sam Wilcoxson, and one step great grandchild Wyatt Wilcoxson as well as honorary daughter Vickie Bagby. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, husband, four brothers, Carl, August, George, and Robert and two sisters, Francis and Annie. Dorothy was a lifelong member of the Mason City Christian Church. She worked for Franklin Life Ins. before becoming co-owner of Sexton’s Plumbing and Heating. She enjoyed her family, was an avid camper, and loved to spend winters in Texas where she used her time to make crafts in support of the community center. Some of her favorites being hand made greeting cards. She loved working in the yard and gardening. Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, November 30, 2021 at 11:00 AM at Mason City Christian Church, burial to follow at Mason City Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Monday, November 29, 2021 from 5-7 PM, also at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to the Mason City Christian Church Building Fund.
