Lowell Don Searcy, age 85 years, was born February 25, 1936 in Batesville, Arkansas to Alvin Columbus and Edna (Carter) Searcy and passed away on April 9, 2021 in Pekin, Illinois. On November 7, 1958, Lowell married Wilma Varnell at Southside, Arkansas and she preceded him in death on June 21, 1997. Lowell was also preceded in death by his parents, a daughter Karla Rinaldo, and three brothers, Paul Evans Searcy, Billy Wayne Searcy and Alvin Searcy. On November 21, 1998, Lowell married Rita Marie Bullock She survives. During their 22 years of marriage, they enjoyed traveling, ballroom dancing, and camping in the motorhome with their beloved Pomeranians, Pepper and Littlebit, and spending time with their children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Lowell is also survived by his children, Katrina Mitchell (Gary Molid) and Jeffery (Lea) Searcy all of Manito, his step children, Maria Bullock of Germantown Hills, Christina (Patrick) Showalter of Washington, Robert (Shelley) Bullock of Peoria, Theresa (Ralph) Glover of Apex, N. Carolina. His grandchildren Larae (Donnie) Schimmelpfennig of Manito, Courtney Breedlove of Ripon, Wisconsin, Sean Rinaldo and Shelby Rinaldo both of Pekin, Jessica (Matt) Welsh of Peoria, Zac (Serena) Cook Germantown Hills, Samantha, Sophia, Emily, Teddy Showalter of Washington, Conrad Glover of Centennial, Colorado, Sydney Glover of Apex, N. Carolina, Jared (Courtney) Courson of Denham Springs, Louisiana, Kindra (John) Mumma of Elmwood, Aliex (Shaun) Henry of Peoria, Katie Bullock of Champaign, Joshua Bullock of Chicago, Tyler Thurman of Peoria and his great grandchildren Rossi Jack Schimmelpfennig of Manito, Maddie Welsh of Peoria, Zuri Cook of Germantown Hills, Charlotte Henry of Peoria, Ryker Thurman of Peoria, Kadence and Keirra Hanley and John Mumma of Elmwood, Rowen and Beckham Courson of Denham Springs, LA. He also leaves Tyri (Matt) Riehl, Averi and Hadley Sullivan of Morton. In 1953 at age 17 years old he traveled from Arkansas to begin work at Caterpillar Tractor Company in East Peoria, Illinois. He worked in the foundry and plant protection until 1986 when he retired after 33 years of employment. Lowell served in the United States Army Reserves. His past accomplishments include North Pekin trustee, police officer, fireman and a member of the Jaycee’s. He was a former Manito village board member for many years and interim mayor. He was a Paul Harris Fellow recipient, a 60year member of the Freemasons and a 32nd degree Scottish Rite Mason. He drove a school bus for Midwest Central Schools and sold real estate with Cupi & Allen and Clifton Strode Agency. He attended Springlake Missionary Church and Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Visitation will be held at Maas-Hurley Funeral Home, in Manito, on Saturday, April 17, 2021 from 9:30 until 10:30 a.m. Masonic Rites will be held at 10:30, with funeral services at 11:00 a.m., all at the funeral home. Rev. Steve Oaks will officiate. Burial will follow the services at Spring Lake Cemetery, near Manito. Memorial donations can be made to Sophia’s Kitchen, 103 S Richard Pryor PL, Peoria, Il 61605. Maas-Hurley Funeral Home in Manito is in charge of arrangements.
