Milton Albert Starman

January 18, 1928 - January 23, 2022

Milton Albert Starman, 94, passed away on Sunday, January 23, 2022 at Manito, Illinois. He was born on January 18, 1928 to Albert Starman and Anna Ursula (Waite) near Ursa, Illinois. Milton was the fifth of seven sons including a set of twins. Tragedy struck in 1931 when his mother and baby brother Russell passed away. Anna Starman, their Grandmother, stepped in to help Albert raise the boys. “Milt” married Elta L. Rahe on September 24, 1950 at Chapin, Illinois. They lived on the Starman family farm near Quincy until 1965 when they purchased an acreage near Manito, Illinois. He raised purebred Angus cattle until his retirement. The “Skyline Angus” herd and Starman Club Calves were known across the Midwest. He was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church of Manito. He enjoyed collecting toy farm tractors, belt buckles and coins. Following Elta’s death in 2010, Milton was cared for by Tammy Schumm of Manito. Her care helped him enjoy his great-grandchildren. Milton is survived by his three daughters, Marilyn Boyts (Mark) of Littleton, Colorado; Rhonda McCarthy (Bill) of Peoria, Illinois and Nancy Meyer (David) of Elkhorn, Nebraska. Grandchildren, Eric Boyts (Mellissa) of Aurora, Colorado; Adam Boyts (Kimberly) of Parker, Colorado; Brett McCarthy of Urbandale, Iowa; Dr. Kelsey (Dr. Tyler) Legro of Peoria, IL ; Stacy Kroeger (Matt) of North Bend, Nebraska, Cody Meyer (Amanda) of Blair, Nebraska; Christopher Meyer of Costa Mesa, California. Great-grandchildren—Elayna, Cora and Ethen Boyts; Avery and Landrie Meyer; and Meyer and Micah Kroeger.He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Elta and brothers, Ray, Gerald, Leland, Leaton and Elvin. Family and friends may gather for visitation at Maas-Hurley Funeral Home in Manito on Saturday, February 12, 2022 from 10:00 AM until the time of service at 11:00 a.m. Graveside service following at Meadow Lawn Cemetery in Manito. Small gathering following at Holiday Inn Express (3615 Kelly Ave.) Pekin.
