Paul Allen Gentry, 73, of Petersburg, IL passed away on Sunday, January 23, 2022, at his home. He was born on October 14, 1948, in Springfield, IL to Paul Everett and Margaret Juanita (Hamrick) Gentry. Paul Married Karen Woods on May 23, 1984, in Springfield. Paul is survived by his wife of 37 years, Karen; seven children, James Eugene (Nicki Hess) Langley of Springfield, Gale Eugene Langley of Oakford, Michelle Lynn (Matthew) Langley Vogt of Petersburg, Melissa Jean (Michael) Gentry Alexander of Springfield, Michael Allen (Heather Coffey) Gentry of Oakford, Paul Allen (Cheryl) Gentry Jr., Michael Shane (April) Gentry, both of McAlester, OK; 20 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; siblings Louise Margaret (George) Gentry Clark of New Berlin, Sandra Leona (Larry) Gentry Heinrich of Rochester, Myril Lee Gentry of Springfield, Marilyn Jean Gentry of Rochester, Emma Mae Gentry Simmons of Kincaid, Anna Marie Gentry Hartley of Springfield, David Fred Gentry of Petersburg, William Charles Gentry of Springfield, Judy Irene Gentry of Springfield; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents; one grandson, Daniel Andrew James Barlow; and his siblings Ed Lee Gentry, Ernest Everett Gentry, Nellie Pauline Gentry Reno, and Nancy Rose Gentry. Paul was a man of the Baptist faith. He owned and operated Gentry Trucking for 37 years. His hobbies included car shows, racing at Shaheen’s Racetrack in Springfield, collecting antiques, helping others, and socializing, but most of all he loved spending time with his grandchildren. A funeral service will be held for Paul on Saturday, January 29, 2022, at Hurley Funeral Home in Petersburg, IL at 10:00 AM. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service from 9:00 Am to 10:00 AM. Pastor Rob Gallion will officiate. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery in Petersburg.
