Clyde L. Cufaude

Clyde L Cufaude, 88, of Mason City, IL died at his home on Sunday, August 11, 2013 at 7:00 PM. He was born on October 3, 1924 in Mason City, IL to Dan C. and Rose (Hubbard) Cufaude. He is survived by his wife of nearly 67 years, Mardelle (Corson) Cufaude. Clyde and Mardelle were married in Mason City, IL on December 29, 1946. Clyde is also survived by one son, Daniel A. (Vinnie) Cufaude of Canton, IL, and three daughters, Rosanne (Jim) Drechsel of Plano, TX, Cathryn (John) Rechner of Downers Grove, IL, and Amy (Steve) Becker of Carlyle, IL. He is also survived by one brother, Howard Cufaude of Evansville, WI, twenty-two grandchildren: Katy Drechsel, Jenny and Chad Mahoney, Michael and Christy Drechsel, Eldon Sprague, David Cufaude, Denise Hyman, Brandi Kuchan, Darren and Angie Cufaude, Abbey and Brian Green, Georgeanna and Kurt Neven, Emma and Dan Cecchin, Jessa and Eric Barnard, Cassie Becker, Mary Becker and John Becker, and ten great-grandchildren: Alex Cufaude, Brady Cufaude, Zach Hyman, Andrew Hyman, Jacob Hyman, Sam Hyman, Jack Mahoney, Maggie Mahoney, Madison Cufaude and Hunter Cufaude. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Harold Cufaude. Clyde was a member of the Methodist Church, the Jackson-Keen Post #496 of the American Legion, and the Mason City Masonic Temple. Clyde served as a Volunteer Fireman for many years, was active in the City Council and served on the Mason City Cemetery Board. Clyde served in the United States Navy in the Pacific Theater during World War II. He also worked as a contractor for many years and at Caterpillar as a Maintenance Supervisor. Clyde enjoyed woodworking, the Chicago Cubs and his family. Among his many close friends he was often referred to as “Hotty,” a nickname he carried with him his entire life. Visitation for Clyde will be held at Hurley Funeral Home in Mason City, IL, on Friday, August 16, 2013 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM. The funeral service will follow the visitation at 12:00PM at Hurley Funeral Home. Pastor Curt McAllister will be officiating. Burial will follow at Mason City Cemetery in Mason City, IL.
