Guy R. "Dick" Williams

Guy R. "Dick" Williams, 74 of Lexington passed away at his home surrounded by his children early morning Wednesday, March 20th, 2024. He was born December 14, 1949 in Columbus, Ohio. Dick was preceded in death by his parents Judge Guy R. Williams and Kathleen L. Williams, as well as his infant son Guy R. Williams II. He leaves behind his 5 children, Hilary Williams (Timothy Pedigo) of Washington, IL, Guy R. "G.R" (Casey) Williams, of San Tan Valley, AZ, Mandy (Eric) Lowery, of Havana IL, Madeline (Kevin) Williams, of Clarksville, TN, and Joshua Williams ( Olivia Lalk) of Lexington, IL. Dick also leaves 9 wonderful grandchildren. Dick grew up with his parents in Easton, IL and eventually moved to Havana and graduated from Havana High School in 1967. He went on to receive a Bachelor of Science from Illinois State University, during this time he grew a passion for radio broadcasting and worked for WGLT. He proudly served the United States Naval Reserve in Australia from 1969-1973 and was honorably discharged in 1974. When he returned home from the service, Dick owned and operated the popular local restaurant, "Poor Richard's" from 1978-1993, formally The Town House in Havana. He went on and continued his career in the food and service industry for many years after, transitioning into maintenance roles towards the end of his career. Those who knew Dick, knew how much he loved his pets, especially his lab "Smudge." We can't forget to mention he was an avid Atlanta Braves fan, loved attending concerts, and reminiscing with his children about "music from his generation". Dick was very involved and always up to date in politics. This comes from a strong political background stemming from his father's career serving the community as a Judge, and his mother's passion for proudly supporting the Democratic party. Most importantly he had a great sense of humor, always kind and was a caring friend and father. Dick had a wonderful support system in his life, and he will be forever loved and missed by many. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Children's Miracle Network and the Havana food pantry. There will be a celebration of life held Saturday, April 13th from 1-6pm at 415 W Adams St, Havana, IL at the VFW Hall. Hurley Funeral Home in Havana is in charge of arrangements.
