Ivis Reed

Ivis Reed, 94, of Mason City, passed away on Sunday, May 10th at her home. Ivis Lucille (Wilson) Reed was born July 1, 1920 in Bartholomew County, Indiana, the daughter of Frank and Ida (Romine) Wilson. She married Leonard Reed on August 1, 1953 and they were married 53 years. He preceded her in death on April 24, 2007. She was also preceded in death by her parents, 7 brothers, and 2 sisters. She is survived by one son Stanley (Judy) Reed of Mason City, and one daughter Yuvonne (Gary) Cooper of Mason City; five grandchildren: Owen (Mindy) Reed of Ormond Beach, FL; Melissa (Danny) Luebbert of Mason City, IL; Brandon Reed of Swansea, IL; Garon (Sara) Cooper of Collinsville, IL; and Kendra Cooper of Springfield, IL; nine great grandchildren: Austin, Macy, Jackson, and Wyatt Reed, all of Ormond Beach, FL; Mackenzi and Audrey Luebbert of Mason City, IL; and Emma, Brandon Jr., and Shawn Reed of Swansea, IL. Also surviving are two sisters, two brothers, and many nieces and nephews. Ivis graduated from Fort Wayne Bible College in 1951 with a degree in Child Evangelism. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Mason City where she taught children’s church for over 40 years, and also served in various other capacities. She and her husband Leonard, farmed in Salt Creek Township all their married life. She was a housewife and homemaker, and a fabulous cook. She enjoyed gardening, canning, painting, needlework, and spending time with her family. She was a wonderful Christian mother and grandmother who shared her love for the Lord with her family and everyone she knew. She will be sadly missed by her family and friends. Visitation is Monday, 5/18/2015, from 6-8 p.m. at Hurley Funeral Home in Mason City. The funeral service is at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, 5/19/2015, at the First Baptist Church in Mason City. Rev. Luke Wolford will officiate. Memorials may be given to First Baptist Church at 222 N. Morgan in Mason City. Hurley Funeral Home in Mason City is assisting the family with the arrangements.
