Lisa Yeon Hee Miller

Lisa Yeon Hee Miller, 49, of West Chester, Ohio, passed away on May 22, 2024 in Blue Ash, Ohio. She was born to Ki Tae Kim and Sung He Hwang in Seoul, South Korea, on August 9, 1974. She was born Yeon Hee Kim and adopted the name Lisa when she and her family moved to Sydney, Australia, in 1981. Lisa graduated high school from Ravenswood School for Girls in 1992. After high school, she earned a certificate in office administration and an Associates Degree in child studies from TAFE in Sydney in 1995. After that, she graduated with her Bachelor of Teaching Degree in Early Childhood Education from Macquarie University in 1999. While going to school, she started her career in education and worked as a teacher and as a director at multiple schools and extended day care centers in Sydney and Seoul. Lisa and her husband, Michael of Petersburg, Illinois, met in Korea while Mike was stationed there with the Army in January of 2009, and they were engaged on Valentine's Day of 2010. They were then married in the company of family and friends at West Point, New York, on March 3, 2012. At that time she left her profession as an educator to be a stay at home mother, but continued to volunteer at her children’s schools. She gave birth to their daughter, Emma, at Fort Hood, TX. After moving to Fort Benning, GA she gave birth to their youngest daughter, Catherine. As an Army wife she was active and served as a leader in multiple Family Readiness Groups. In February of 2017, they moved to West Chester, Ohio, in the Cincinnati area after Mike left active duty. Lisa was a member and volunteer at Grace Bible Church in Killeen, Texas; a member and volunteer at Cascade Hills Church in Columbus, Georgia; and a member and volunteer at Crossroads Church of Cincinnati, Ohio. On Easter of 2024, Lisa reaffirmed her faith in Christ and was rebaptized at Crossroads Church in Mason, Ohio. Lisa is survived by her husband, her two children, her father, mother, and brother, Young Jun Kim, of Sydney, Australia. A visitation will be held at Hurley Funeral Home in Petersburg, Illinois, on Tuesday, May 28, 2024, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am. A funeral service will follow beginning at 11:00 am with Pastor Dale Scott officiating. Interment will immediately follow at Oakland Cemetery in Petersburg.
