Margaret A. Chesser

Margaret Ann (Logue) Chesser of Chandlerville, Illinois, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, February 16, 2026. She was born on June 29, 1946 in Chandlerville to John William and Margery Ellen (Hixon) Logue. On January 7, 1966 she married Johnny Benjamin Chesser. Margaret is survived by her husband; daughters, Johnna (Rocky) Snyder, Shelly (Rod) Taylor, Della Leinberger (companion, Jim Hughes), and Holly Force; grandchildren, JR Lonergan, Sawyer (Becca) Snyder, Tanner (Nicole) Force, Ellen Force, Kaylee Leinberger, and Lucas Leinberger; and 8 great-grandchildren. Also surviving is her sister, Emma Jean Schappaugh of Manito; sisters-in-law, Trudy Williams and Karen (Jim) Spears; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; in-laws, Hank and Vivian Richard; daughter, Kara; son-in-law, Joe Leinberger; grandson, Trent Taylor; and siblings, Bill, Donna, Darlene, and Dianna. Margaret worked many jobs in her life that mostly served others in the community. Her greatest job was being the best mom and homemaker for her family. Growing up, she taught her daughters many things, but most importantly how to cook and bake. Her family was very important to her and you could see the love she had for each and every one of them in her actions, from never missing a game growing up or just being an ear to listen or a shoulder to cry on when life wasn’t going our way. Our mom loved watching sports, especially the Chicago Cubs and, back in the day, the Chicago Bulls with Michael Jordan. She took them pretty seriously, so she would get a little upset if dad asked her if the Cubs scored a touchdown. Margaret spent a lot of time taking care of the elderly in the neighborhood and babysitting while we were growing up, so when she became ill, it was a privilege to take care of her. We had the best role model. In the end, she went quickly and peacefully. Our mom was never one looking for recognition or to be in the spotlight. With that being said, she wanted no services, but we will have a celebration of her life and have a meal at Duke & Joannie’s on Main Street in Chandlerville on Saturday, February 21, 2026 beginning at 11:00 a.m. for all who can come to pay respects and share their memories of our beautiful mom. Garrett Shores has graciously offered to provide fried chicken and fish if anyone would like to donate to the meal. Garrett is a special part of our family and would stop in to keep mom on her toes and deliver food for mom and dad when she got sick. We are forever grateful for his love for mom. Memorial donations may be made in Margaret’s name to Cass-Schuyler Hospice or Chandlerville American Legion Auxiliary. Online condolences can be left for her family at www.hurleyfh.com.
