Pauline Mattie Wilson

Pauline Mattie Wilson, age 79, passed away at 1:23 a.m. on Saturday, April 27, 2019 at Generations of Peoria. She was born September 18, 1939 to her parents, Finas Delbert and Pauline Laura (Powell) Wilson, in Petersburg, IL. She was the oldest of five children including: Rosetta Mae Wilson, Finas Therlow (Junior) Wilson, Robert James Wilson, and Raymond Neal Wilson. Pauline attended Forman High School in Manito. She and her sister, Rosetta, resided in Peoria for many years, most recently at Heartland Healthcare of Peoria, where they continued their togetherness and support of each other as roommates until Rosetta passed away June 9, 2018. Rosetta and Pauline never married, so they became lifelong companions. Pauline was only 13 months older than Rosetta. Pauline was a member of the Calvary Baptist Bible Church in Peoria. She was a faithful follower of Jesus. She was a devoted, loving sister and daughter. To know Pauline was to love her. Her face lit up when friends and family visited her. She had a kind word for everyone she met. She was always very complimentary whether noticing someone’s positive features such as dimples, pretty eyes, or nice hair, or the color of their clothes, especially if it was her favorite color of blue. She loved to read the Bible and inspirational books, but also liked reading Nancy Drew books. Her most cherished possession was the Bible that her Grandmother Goldie Wilson gave her in 1950. She enjoyed doing crafts and playing board games, with Sorry being her favorite. Pauline also was extremely appreciative and always expressed her sincere gratitude to her caregivers. She enjoyed sending greeting cards and writing letters when she was able, but she most liked receiving picture postcards. Pauline brightened the lives of many through her sweet, outgoing personality and her friendly smile. She has been a joy to many. Pauline is survived by her brothers Finas (Junior) Wilson and wife Kathleen of Missouri and Raymond Neal Wilson and wife Penny of Arkansas. She is also survived by her Aunt Darlene Wilson of Taylorville, and many cousins, including, Bonnie Sue (Wilson) Nagle of Waterloo, Vickie L. (Wilson) Moore of Taylorville, Larry Dale Wilson of Fairview, Texas, Karl Beaty of Petersburg, Larry D. Beaty of Pana, Esther (Beaty) Edwards of Springfield, Janet (Nelson) Scharf of Rochester, and Carla (Nelson) Needham of Mechanicsburg. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Gail Sue Wilson of Peoria and her family. She has many nieces and nephews. She has also been blessed over the years by Pastor Garry and Joy Geer and her church family, along with many wonderful friends including Annabelle Dayola and Karen Curry of Peoria and Joe and Karen Stoller of Normal . She was preceded in death by her parents, Finas D. and Pauline L. (Powell) Wilson, her brother, Robert J. Wilson, her sister Rosetta M. Wilson, her grandparents Elmer T. and Mattie E. Powell of Tallula and Benjamin H. Wilson of Petersburg and Goldie M. Wilson of Pleasant Plains. Pauline’s visitation will be at the Calvary Baptist Bible Church at 2200 W. Nebraska in Peoria, IL 61604 on Thursday, May 2, 2019 at 9:30 a.m. and the funeral will begin at 10:30 a.m. with Pastor Garry Geer officiating. Burial will be at 2:30 at Greenwood Cemetery in Tallula, IL with Pastor Lucas Wolford presiding. Memorial contributions may be made to the Calvary Baptist Bible Church, Peoria.
