Robert "Bob" E. Koch

Robert “Bob” E. Koch, 89, of Tallula, Illinois, passed away peacefully at home April 6th, 2025. Bob was born September 7th, 1935, in Oakford, Illinois to William H. & Elsie Marie (nee Bahl) Koch. He met and married the love of his life, Pauline Schoppe on February 9th, 1958, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Petersburg, Illinois, where together they have been lifelong members. Bob worked for many years at the Farmer’s Elevator in Tallula, then he went to Bluff Springs Elevator in Virginia, eventually retiring as a manager. Afterwards, he dedicated his newly acquired time to Camp CILCA (Central Illinois Lutheran Camp Association) to encourage and nurture a Lutheran upbringing in children. He adored his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren and watching them thrive. Aside from his family, Bob loved nothing more than fishing – he could best be associated with having a good time near any body of water, as long as there were fish to catch. Bob is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Pauline Koch; his children, Pam (Tom) Roose, Randy (Debbie) Koch, Rod (Kathy) Koch, Rick (Egenia) Koch; grandchildren, Jennifer (Blake) Makison, Megan (Casey) Reeves, Cameron (Mandy) Koch, Zachary Koch, Alex Koch, Clay (Haley) Koch, Jacob (Hannah) Koch, Brian (Carley) Koch, and Emily Koch; and his great-children, Lewis Makison, Bryce Reeves, and Ryleigh Koch. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son and daughter-in-law, Ronnie (Beth) Koch; and his siblings, Herb Koch, Pete Koch, Jack Koch, Dana Eckhoff, and Vi Cox. A Visitation will be held Thursday, April 10th, 2025, from 4:00p.m. until 6:00p.m. at Hurley Funeral Home, 122 W Douglas, Petersburg, Illinois 62675. A Funeral will be held Friday, April 11th, 2025, at 10:00a.m. at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 120 W Monroe St, Petersburg, Illinois 62675 with a burial to follow at Rose Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Bob’s name to Camp CILCA, 4124 Camp Cilca Rd, Cantrall, Illinois 62625 or to Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 120 W Monroe St, Petersburg, Illinois 62675. Hurley Funeral Home in Petersburg is assisting the family.
