Doris Anna Mills

Doris Anna Mills, 82, of Mason City, Illinois, formerly of Oakford, Illinois, passed away on Thursday, January 13, 2022, at Springfield Memorial Hospital in Springfield, Illinois. She was born June 19, 1939, in Knifley, Kentucky, to Ira and Nettie (Goodin) Smith. She married Deweal Dean Mills on August 25, 1963. He preceded her in death on January 1, 1998. Doris was of the Baptist faith and was a member of the Mt. Olive Baptist Church. She was a seamstress, worked at several local restaurants in the Petersburg, Illinois, area, worked for Ideal Industries and retired from working for the State of Illinois. She was a former member of the Petersburg Clown Band. Doris is survived by her children, Karen Mills, Donna “July” Mills-Lane and Dean O. Mills; two brothers, Marshall G. Smith and Ron Smith; four sisters, Francis, Sue, Sharon and Linda; fourteen grandchildren, nineteen great grandchildren and fifteen great-great grandchildren; and a special friend, James Dumas. Doris was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Melvin Eugene Dambacher; a daughter, Marsha Pierson-French; three sisters, Janet, Ester and Sylvan; two brothers, Ira Jr. and Raymond; two grandsons, Frankie Pierson Jr. and D. Bishop Gilbert; and a great grandson, Mathew Vaughn. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 18, 2022, from 10 am to 11 am at Hurley Funeral Home in Petersburg, Illinois. A graveside service will immediately follow visitation at Mt. Olive Cemetery in Chandlerville, Illinois. Pastor Rob Gallion will be the officiant.
