Georgia D. Dawson

Georgia D. Dawson, 83, of Petersburg, IL passed away on February 6, 2022, at 11:10 PM at her home surrounded by her family. She was born on November 20, 1938, to Walter and Virginia L (Rehsman) Denton. She married Walter “Louis” Dawson on July 2, 1982. Georgia is survived by her husband, Louis; her children, Walter D. Gum, Marsha Ann Warfield Gum, Delilah E. Gum Augugliaro, Joe Augugliaro, Jimmy D. Gum, Cathy Minor Gum, Diana E. Harbin, Stephen J. Harbin; stepchildren, Dana Dawson, Robert (Sara Heaton) Dawson, Melinda Dawson; and 66 grandchildren and great grandchildren. Georgia was a member of the Truth Tabernacle Church in Petersburg, where she was saved in 1987. She taught Sunday School for several years and loved working with children. She was an avid mushroom hunter and held the title of the largest mushroom hunter in the mushroom competition for over 10 years. Georgia enjoyed camping, hunting, fishing, and above all else, spending time with her grandchildren. A visitation will be held for Georgia on Wednesday, February 9, 2022, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Truth Tabernacle Church in Petersburg. A memorial gathering will be held at the Riverbank Lodge following visitation from 11:30 AM to 1:00 PM where a luncheon will be served. Burial will follow at a later date at Rosehill Cemetery in Petersburg. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Truth Tabernacle Building Fund.
