Lois I. Meyer

December 28, 1937 - March 5, 2022

Lois I. Meyer, 84, of Manito passed away on Saturday, March 5, 2022 at Pekin Hospital. She was born on December 28, 1937 in Fulton County to George and Elizabeth (Bennett) Skaggs. Lois is survived by 2 sons: Curtis (Becky) Meyer of Green Valley and Wyatt (Erin) Meyer of Manito, 6 grandchildren: Brittany (Brock) Oelze, Jake (Sabrina) Meyer, Clint Meyer, Blake Meyer, Bryce Meyer, Kylie Meyer and 1 great granddaughter Paityn Oelze, sister Betty Lippert of Havana and brother Bob (Debbie) Skaggs of Manito. She was preceded in death by her parents and 4 siblings: Charles Skaggs, Rosa Beal, Jim Skaggs and Doretta Mason. She was a 1955 graduate of Forman High School. Lois worked as farmwife and then as a school secretary for Forman and Midwest Central retiring after 30 years. She was a member of the Community United Methodist Church in Manito. She enjoyed NASCAR Racing, dirt and sprint car racing, sports especially the Cardinals and Midwest Central basketball. She enjoyed attending sporting events and activities for her sons, grandchildren, nieces and nephews, she loved cheering them all on. She was active with the Manito branch of the American Legion #561 Auxiliary and was a proud American. A funeral service is planned for Wednesday, March 9, 2022 at 10:00 AM at The Community United Methodist Church in Manito, burial to follow at Forest City Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 8, 2022 from 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm at Maas-Hurley Funeral Home in Manito. Memorial contributions may be made to the Mason City to Peoria St. Jude Run. Online condolence can be left at www.hurleyfh.com. Maas-Hurley Funeral Home in Manito is in charge of the arrangements.
