Delores Virginia Bailey

Ipava, IL - Delores Virginia Bailey, 62, of 8446 E. Sand Branch Road, Ipava, IL passed away at 2:46 pm Wed. Feb. 21, 2007 at St. John’s Hospice in Springfield, IL. She was born March 5, 1944 near Chandlerville, IL the daughter of James F. and Rosalind B. Everhart Otto. She married Herbert J. Smith in 1961 and later married Rodney Bailey in 1981 in Havana and he survives. Also surviving is her father, James Otto of Chandlerville, IL, her mother, Rosalind B. Hammack of Astoria, her step-father, Ivan Logue of Easton, IL and her first husband Herbert J. Smith of Virden, IL. Also surviving are three sons, Herbert J. Smith II of Jacksonville, IL; Robert I (Cheri) Smith of Rochester, IL and Rock Lee Bailey of Ipava, IL and four daughters, Suzanna R. (Brad) Stephens of Springfield, IL; Pamela J. DeJanovich of Springfield, IL; Melissa J. Bailey of Peoria, IL and Gerri (Jeremy) Stinson of Carbondale, IL. Eleven grandchildren, two brothers, David C (Irma) Otto and Cecil C. Otto both of Chandlerville, Four ½ brothers, John Otto of Chesapeake Beach, MA, Eugene (Melissa) Otto of Perryton, TX, Jeff (Elizabeth) Otto of Perryton, TX and James Otto of Lincoln, NE; and two step-brothers, David E. (Wanita) Hammack of Vermont, IL and Raymond Hammack of Astoria, IL. She was preceded in death by one daughter, Virginia Kay Smith, one son, Bobby Lee Bailey and her step-father, Dale Hammack. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Mrs. Bailey was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Havana. She was a graduate of Petersburg PORTA High School, attended classes at Sangamon State University, and received her Associates Degrees in General education and nursing from Lincoln Land College in Springfield. She was a registered nurse. Services will be held at 11:00 am Sat. Feb. 24, 2007 at the Hurley Funeral Home in Havana conducted by Father Stephen Engelbrecht. Visitation will be held from 9:00 am until time of services on Saturday. Burial will be in the Summum Cemetery at Summum, IL.
