Martin "Pat" Patrick Davis

Martin “Pat” Patrick Davis, 82, of Tallula, Illinois, passed away June 20, 2024, in Springfield, Illinois. Pat was born March 27, 1942, to Carl Arthur and Mary Josephine (Mahoney) Davis in Springfield, Illinois. He graduated from Tallula High School in 1960 where he was a member of the 1960 Basketball Team that won the District Championship. After high school, he earned an associate degree from St. Ambrose College in Davenport, Iowa in 1962. Pat has been a farmer his whole life; eventually becoming a successful seed dealer for Pfister, Wyffels, and AgriGold. His passion was agriculture and he invested time in its future by always supporting the County Fair and numerous 4H and FFA activities. Pat also had a special place in his heart for his community; being a prominent member of the PORTA School Board, the Regional School Board from 1987-2015, President of Tallula Kiwanis, and as the coach for Tallula Little League Teams. He was formerly enlisted in the Illinois National Guard from 1962-1966, 33rd Infantry Division. In addition to his many loves and lifelong commitments, he was a lifetime member, Eucharistic Minister and Lector of St. Augustine Catholic Church in Ashland, Illinois, where he married the love of his life, Patricia “Patti” Belle Dierks on July 18, 1964. Pat is survived by his beloved wife, Patti Davis; his children, Tim (Kendra) Davis of Petersburg, Illinois, and Tadgh (Denise) Davis of Petersburg, Illinois; his grandchildren, Kendall Davis, and Kinsley Davis; his sister Margie Davis; his nephew, Eric Bottom; his nieces, Jamie Humphreys and Kristen Sloan, and a sister-in-law, Debby Davis. He was preceded in death by his brother, James Davis; and his parents. A Prayer Service will be held Monday, June 24, 2024, at 4:00 p.m. with a Visitation beginning immediately after until 7:00 p.m. at Hurley Funeral Home, 122 W. Douglas Avenue, Petersburg, Illinois 62675. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow Tuesday, June 25, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Augustine Catholic Church, 800 W. Main St., Ashland, Illinois 62612. Pat will be laid to rest at St. Augustine Cemetery in Ashland, Illinois. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Pat’s name to PORTA Athletics, 17651 Bluejay Rd, Petersburg, Illinois 62675, St. Augustine Parish, 320 N. Saratoga, Ashland, Illinois 62612, or to the Tallula Senior Center, 103 W. Main St., Tallula, Illinois 62688. Funeral Arrangements are entrusted to Hurley Funeral Home in Petersburg.
