Mary Jean Larimore

Mary Larimore, 88, of 2l630 Jellystone Ave. Petersburg formerly of Green Valley passed away at 7:02 A.M. Tuesday, March 10, 2015 at Springfield Memorial Hospital. She was born June 22, l926 in Illiopolis, Illinois the daughter of Beryl and Odessa June Wright Griffin. She married Truman C. (Junn) Richards in 1942 in St. Louis, Missouri. She later married Clayton James (Jim) Larimore on October 28, 1952 in Manito and he preceded her in death on November 22, 2003. She was also preceded in death by one infant son Truman Cecil (Richie) Righards Jr., two brothers Jack Griffin and Carl Griffin and one grandson Tony Reed in 2001. Surviving are two daughters, Sandra (Jack) Brackney of Athens and Carol (Barry) Boeker of Petersburg, two sons, Stann (Jane) Richards of West Peoria and Mike (Vicki) Larimore of Mackinaw. Mary has six grandchildren, Rebecca (Rich) McConnell and Braydon Brackney both of Springfield, Michelle (Matt) McNeal of Athens, Laura (Jeff) Ryan of Chillicothe, Brian (Kendra) Larimore of Bloomington and Emily (Tony) Fogliano of Orlando, Florida, great grandchildren Austin Cull, Cameron Cull, Evie Martin, Clayton McNeal, Brandon McNeal, Johnathon Fogliano, and Dominick Fogliano and eight step grandchildren, two sisters JoAnn Berchtold of Green Valley and Janet Griffin of Albuquerque, New Mexico, sister in laws Mary Gerrietts of Green Valley, Norma Griffin of Pekin and Karol Romines of Buffalo, Illinois and many cousins, nieces and nephews. Mary was a member of the Green Valley Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women of the Church and attended the Athens Methodist Church. She worked at the Illinois Ordnance Factory making ammunition during WW II and the Lincoln Garment Factory. She was a care-giver to many people in the Green Valley Area. Her favorite job was working at the Dairy Freeze in Green Valley where we are sure she ate a few of their ice cream cones due to her love of ice cream. She moved in 2005 to Petersburg to live with her daughter Carol and to be closer to daughter Sandra. She appreciated her two daughters Sandra and Carol for the loving care she received during the last years of her life. She was a nature lover. Butterflies were her specialty. She leaves behind an extensive genealogy collection that she spent many hours working at. Easter time found her hiding pennies for her family to find. She was a great story teller which kept her entire family spellbound. Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Friday, March 13, 2013 at the Maas-Hurley Funeral Home in Manito. Visitation will be from 9:00 A.M. until the time of services at 11 AM. Pastor Paulette Cott will officiate. Internment will be in Green Valley Cemetery.
