Teresa Pillsbury

Teresa “Terri” Anne (Stark) Pillsbury, of Petersburg, IL died in her home on October 12th, 2023. Terri was born January 21st, 1960, in Quincy, IL, and was the daughter of Gerald J. “Buck” and Rita (Bichsel) Stark. Teresa married Doug at the Lake of the Ozarks on July 24, 1985. Her daughter, Alexis Gen, and her parents preceded her in death. Teresa graduated from Quincy High School. She received her medical assistant degree through Robert Morris College. She then earned her nursing associates through St. John’s Hospital School of Nursing to become a Registered Nurse. Teresa worked as a pediatric nurse at HSHS St. John’s Children’s Hospital for her 30-year nursing career. While working in pediatrics, Teresa was a charge nurse, a transport nurse, and a flight nurse. Teresa was awarded the Children’s Hospital’s first Daisy Award in 2012. An active member of St. Peters Church in Petersburg, Illinois, Teresa enjoyed most spending time with her large family, her dogs, gardening, and loving on her granddaughters. Whenever she saw a need, she gave of herself, her time, and energy to anyone in her extended family. Teresa was always available to care for her granddaughters at a moment's notice. She adored her granddaughters as much as they loved, obsessed over, and adored her. She is survived by her husband, Doug, and three children, Meghan Pillsbury (Jake Miller), Britanie (Steve) Sumpter, and Chandler Pillsbury (John Hardy). Also surviving are four granddaughters, Stella Hooper, Sylvia Miller, and Nora and Everly Sumpter, her siblings Joey Stark, Connie Deming, Kevin Stark, Greg Stark, John Stark, Tina Wingerter, and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, sisters-in-law, and brothers-in-law. Memorials may be made to PORTA Foundation or St. John’s Children’s Hospital Toy Donation Fund. Visitation will be at Hurley Funeral Home on Friday, October 20, 2023, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM with funeral services to be held on Saturday, October 21, 2023, at 10:00 AM at St. Peters Catholic Church in Petersburg. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery in Petersburg. A luncheon for friends and family will be held immediately following services. Hurley Funeral Home in Petersburg is in charge of arrangements.
